Browser extension privacy policy
Effective October 23, 2026 · Applies to Bodie – Your Privacy Guardian, version 1.1.1 and subsequent versions unless this policy changes.Bodie helps decline cookie requests, block known trackers, explain privacy policies and terms, and manage online services you choose to track. This policy describes the Chrome extension; other Bodie app features may handle additional information when you use them.
What the extension processes
- Website content: Bodie inspects page elements to find cookie rejection controls, policy links and sign-in/sign-out signals. It reads privacy-policy or terms text for local, rule-based analysis. A manual scan reads text from the active page when requested.
- Local browsing information: It caches reviewed domains, policy URLs, timestamps, analysis results, feature settings and cookie/policy counters. It keeps a queue of reports awaiting synchronization.
- Chosen accounts and activity: When you accept an account-tracking prompt, it remembers the service name and domain. For tracked services it counts visits and active minutes by day. Activity events indicate whether you are active; the activity counter does not record the values of typed keys.
- Bodie authentication: If you sign in, your email and password are sent over HTTPS to Bodie's Supabase authentication provider. The extension stores the resulting authentication session in Chrome extension storage. Its account-detection feature checks for the presence of password fields and login forms, but does not read other websites' password values.
What leaves your browser
Cookie-button detection, bundled tracker blocking and policy analysis run in your browser. The extension may fetch a same-site policy or terms page without credentials to analyze it. A website receiving such a request can receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address.
When signed in to Bodie, the extension sends selected service names/domains, daily visit and active-minute totals, and policy reports to Bodie's Supabase backend so they can appear in your Bodie account. Reports include reviewed domains, grades, findings and excerpts of analyzed website text. Do not manually scan sensitive page content you do not want included in a synchronized report. Sign-in and synchronization requests also expose ordinary connection metadata to the service provider.
The extension does not include advertising-network integrations or a feature for selling browsing data. Data handled by the extension is used to provide its privacy and account-management features, rather than for personalized advertising or creditworthiness decisions.
Providers and security
Supabase provides authentication, account storage and realtime synchronization. Netlify hosts Bodie's website and downloads. Google distributes the extension and its updates through the Chrome Web Store. These providers process information needed to deliver their services under their own applicable terms and privacy policies. Bodie uses HTTPS for its backend connections and account-based authorization. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Your controls and retention
Cookie declining, tracker blocking, fine-print reading and account detection can be switched off in the extension popup. Signing in is optional for local protection; synchronization requires a Bodie account. Local settings and queues persist in extension storage until cleared or the extension is removed. Recent policy caches and pending report queues are bounded; successfully synchronized usage entries are removed from the local upload buffer. Unsent usage entries older than seven days are discarded when synchronization runs.
Signing out or uninstalling does not itself delete previously synchronized server records. To request access, correction or deletion of your Bodie account data, contact jacob@cloudify.mobi from your account email. Identity verification may be required. Records may remain in service backups or where retention is required to meet legal obligations.
